Lack of Anger Management Results In Bad Behavior
By Janno Damgaard Lassen
Sooner or later everyone reaches a stage where frustration boils over. We feel out of control. Adrenaline levels shoot up. In a fit of temper you scream at someone. You may throw an object across a room or slam your fist through a door or a wall. We become irrational and act out emotion. We only realize afterwards what we have done and by then the damage is not that easy to repair. Those out of control moments need anger management.
Our temper hurts the feelings of other people. We may even have done damage to property, others or ourselves. Some of us may never need anger management advice. While others will need to attend anger management classes offered by our community, but it is every person’s duty to understand what anger management is all about.
There are those of us who have learned that they can control their emotions by personal anger management in a healthy way. Well balanced people only need to react once they have thought a specific situation through. They will still experience all the normal human reactions such as a quickened heartbeat and raised levels of adrenaline and blood pressure in a heated moment. The body reacts this way instinctively when we become angry. But it is what we choose to do and how we allow our physical bodies to react that makes the concept of anger management so important.
Anger Management Can Be Learnt
It is natural to want to lash out in an aggressive manner for we feel we need to defend ourselves. In certain situations, aggression is not a bad thing, but in most instances, there is no need for a violent outburst. What anger management tries to achieve is change your emotional reaction when we are faced with certain situations. It is not possible to remove all those things from our lives that trigger anger, nor can we avoid all the people who might annoy us past the limits of our patience. What we can control is how we react in these circumstances.
If you are open to accept the knowledge, there is much you can learn from anger management classes, lectures and books to alter your life. You will be taught relaxation techniques, how to calm yourself when faced with volatile situations, learn what words and language to avoid when being placed in an aggressive scenario, why these words can be detrimental and emphasize on problem solving through reasoning.
You will be able to solve problems with more rationality once you have learned calming and relaxation techniques and your communication skills will improve. If anger management is a battle for you, the first step is to admit that you must find healthier ways to deal with stress. Each of us will benefit by learning new ways of anger management and improve our quality of life.
